Kelvin Robin "Kel" Tremain is a former All Black and Hawkes Bay rugby player, a flanker. He played 38 tests for New Zealand between 1959 and 1968, scoring a total of 27 points.
During the 1960s he had a status in New Zealand rugby comparable to that of his team-mate Colin Meads.
He was born in Auckland on 21 February 1938, and died in Napier on 2 May 1992 aged only 54 after a short illness. His death shocked many people. The Kelvin Tremain Memorial Trophy is awarded annually to New Zealand's player of the year.
Chris Tremain, the Member of Parliament for Napier, is his son.
